As an alumni leader of the University of Maryland, you are still very much a part of our community, striving alongside us to be TerrapinSTRONG. The Action Plan is your opportunity to decide how you want to continue this TerrapinSTRONG journey. Commit yourself to learning more about our community, building meaningful connections, and pursuing inclusion both for our campus and for your current community. This action plan may also provide ideas for ways you can engage with your alumni networks as well.
Community
- Take the African American History Tour
- Watch this Johnny Holliday interview with Darryl Hill, the first African American football player in any of the southern athletic conferences.
- Learn about the Frog and Jim Henson
- Learn about the 1856 Project, the study of UMD's history with slavery.
- Learn about Johnson-Whittle and Pyon-Chen, new reshalls in the Heritage Community.

Connection
- Join the University of Maryland Alumni Association.
- Volunteer at a University of Maryland event.
- Download the M Book, packed with university traditions and Terp accomplishments to keep you connected to the campus community.
- Come see us at Homecoming in October or Maryland Day, the last Saturday in April.
- Join Terrapins Connect and make yourself available to talk with other alumni and current students about your career journey. Or host an Intern for a Day at your place of business.
Inclusion
- Participate in online learning through the Alumni Association when they offer sessions like “What can you personally do to be an inclusive leader?”
- Donate to the Campus Pantry, serving all members of the campus community in times of food insecurity. Donate items for the Terp to Terp Restore at the Pantry as well to meet other essential needs for our students.
- Gain a deeper understanding of the Israel/Palestine conflict, antisemitism & Islamophobia.
- Commit to taking small, impactful actions to help tackle the climate crisis with the UMD Green at Home Guide, the Maryland Campaign for Environmental Human Rights and the United Nations Campaign for Individual Action.
- Register to vote and VOTE!
- Read the First Year Book.
- Attend a lecture from the Bahá’í Chair for World Peace.
- Participate in the College of Arts and Humanities Dean’s Colloquium Series on Race, Equity and Justice or the Antiracism: Communities + Collaborations series.
- Learn more about how pronouns support members of the trans community. Explore the LGBTQ+ Equity Center TransTerps resources.
- Learn more about diversity, equity and inclusion through the arts
Attend an Arts Citizenship Talk (ACTnow), the NextNOW Fest, or other events such as the Blacklight summit at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center
Visit the Stamp gallery and the Contemporary Art Collection to engage with contemporary art that addresses broad community and social issues
Visit the David C. Driskell Center which is committed to preserving the rich heritage of African American visual art and culture
