Shannon Smith

Shannon Smith (he/him) serves the TerrapinSTRONG Education Team as a program manager. Prior to joining UMD, Shannon served as an academic advisor for graduate students at Johns Hopkins University. He has also worked as a student success advisor for Washington, D.C. cohorts at Trinity Washington University and as a talent development and inclusion manager at Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. Shannon spent six years at American University, first as an academic counselor in the College of Arts and Sciences and then as the assistant director of student success and transition in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. He has also served as the assistant director of student activities and Greek affairs at Howard University.

Shannon earned his MA in education and human development from The George Washington University and his BA in psychology from Wake Forest University.

Shannon is the father of two amazing boys. He enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with his family.
